Most happy news the jedi can wed without becoming evil
Hi don't want to come off as a spammer, but just trying to spread word that Simon Pegg who is officially involved with The Force Awakens recently insulted George Lucas and more than half the Star Wars fanbase. Just trying to get word out about a petition to have him banned from Official Star Wars projects. It's time that Prequel Fans stand up for their part of the Franchise.

I have no problem with people expressing their views, but someone who is officially involved with the Star Wars franchise shouldn't be dissing it's creator and more than half it's fanbase with toxic rhetoric.
I love the prequels because of what they did for the canon and how much they expanded on the pre-Empire era, but Simon Pegg was right. They are terrible movies and George Lucas was totally wrong in the directions he took. He shouldn't be banned for expressing his opinions. He doesn't understand why I still like the prequels, but that's fine. We need to promote people like him speaking their minds about such things. If more people had spoken up and confronted George Lucas about the terrible storytelling in the prequels and the overuse of technology, maybe they would've been the prequels everyone hoped that they would be.

That petition is just a bunch of people who lack the capacity to approach a fandom in a mature perspective. It's absolutely ludicrous to think that Simon Pegg should be punished for speaking his mind. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Everyone. Should I be banned from making Star Wars art because I think the prequels have such bad screenwriting that I consider them comedies to be mocked and that Luke Skywalker is an insufferable mary sue?
No one is against Simon Pegg speaking his mind. The issue is Simon Pegg is officially involved in the Star Wars franchise, such as The Force Awakens and he's outright shown disrespect for more than half the Star Wars fanbase.
So what? We should expect him to kiss our butts just because he's affiliated with Force Awakens? No. As it stands, his comments about George Lucas and the prequels are nothing new. He's poked fun and made crass remarks for years. He's entitled to his opinions, even if they are disrespectful. As fans, it's not in our power to do anything but express our opinions. Whether or not he should continue to play a role in Star Wars is up to the higher ups, not us.

You shouldn't expect him to show you respect just because you're a fan of something he is now affiliated with. You've done nothing to earn that respect. Furthermore, Simon Pegg is not blowing a new tune. Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi) outright told people not to go and see the first Star Wars films back in the 70's and 80's. He thought they were embarrassing to his carreer and thought that the fans were nuts.
